Upolu Tour No. 2
First stop is at Robert Louis Stevenson's Museum at Vailima where you will learn the history of this famous author who came to live in Samoa five years before his death, and his house features so many of his belongings such as books and travel mementos in a 20 minutes tour. The museum opens weekdays from 8am – 3.30pm. There is also a 3 hours return walk to the author's tomb at the top of Mt Vaea (optional).
Next is a visit to the
Mailelani Gift Shop nearby
for a demonstration of how the soaps are
naturally made from local materials by the owners and to admire some of these fine
products that are displayed in their shop
after final production.
You will also get to visit the Bahai Temple situated on the cool hills of Malololelei surrounded by beautiful landscape gardens and tropical flowers of Samoa
followed by a look out at the Papapapai-Tai Falls . This spectacular loom waterfall plunges into a gorge 2.3km south of Lanotoo Road . Take care at viewing area near the cliff edge.
Lunch is at 12.00pm from our lunch menu on board before a swim at the Sliding Rocks at Tuaefu. This river runs in between a few villages from the top of the hills to the sea in Apia and floods heavily during our wet season in between November and April but does not flow so much during our dry season between May and October but you still can swim.
You are welcome to take pictures and feel free to purchase any products at all stops or make special requests on any other places that you might want to see on the way that are not included in our program for today without any extra costs if time permits. We will also have a selection of handcrafted souvenirs on board.
